What do you think?
Ben Fleagle

When you hear the words terrorism or terrorist, what do you think of?  It is most likely an Arabic male with a long bushy beard.  That assumption is one of the things that are wrong with this world.  Just because you are Arab and you worship the Quran doesn’t make you a terrorist.  They actually believe and are a part of a very peaceful religion.

This article goes into great depth about why we began stereotyping terrorists as Arab.  It mainly began with the terrorist attack of 9-11.  The article quotes “Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al- Zahawiri, are Arabs. All 19 of the Sept. 11 hijackers were Arabs. The late, unlamented Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Al Qaeda's top man in Iraq, was an Arab.”    They did some very bad things and they are unforgiveable, however we CANT take that out on all of the Arab people of the world.  One of my best friends is Arab.  I DON’T BLAME HIM FOR 9-11!  I know he was not a part of it.  He is innocent however people are caught up in the fact that Arab’s were responsible for 9-11 so HE MUST HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED!!!!

10 of the Worst Terror Attacks

Terrorist attacks are obviously horrible.  They cause hate and panic in the nation; and where does all that hate go.  It goes automatically to Arab people.  It’s ALWAYS their fault.  However, isn’t it interesting that some of the worst terrorist attacks were caused by people that weren’t Arab’s?  Do you remember the Boston marathon bombing?  It was caused by Dzhokhar Anzorovich Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Anzorovich Tsarnaev.  They were the 2 Chechen brothers.  THEY WERE NOT ARAB.  There was also Jim David Adkisson.  The man who walked into a church and opened fire (2 killed).  People need to stop stereotyping about terrorism and terrorists or else we will never defeat it.

  1. I agree its a shame how Arabic people are constantly discriminated against because of this ridiculous stereotype. Their are many people of different backgrounds that carry out terroristic acts and even worse crimes! Unfortunately many people are mislead to believe a false stereotypical image of what a terrorist looks like when it could be someone who looks similar to a person you would know.

  4. I like the fact that you came out and said not all terrorist are Arabic and Muslim, The fact that most of society discriminates them just for the fact and the color of their skin is horrible.
